Abstract

The paper examines the global production value chain in Singapore's services sector. Specifically, it explores some of the key activities related to the retail value chain in the country. Based on the experience of other major economies, the productivity and competitiveness of the retail sector will prove to be very crucial for the future of the services sector in Singapore. Therefore, this study not only highlights the key factors that could boost the productivity of retail, but also identifies significant challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
