Project Details

Description

The rapid rise of an increasingly productive R&D ecosystem in the ASEAN region has put a spotlight on the need to address issues concerning responsible conduct of research (RCR) such as research misconduct, safety and security of research, data sharing/ownership as well as the social responsibility of science. As a result, there has been on-going efforts to promote RCR in the region. One of the leading initiatives in the region is the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Programme. In 2018, the Malaysian Educational Module on Responsible Conduct of Research; first of its kind in the region was published. With the continuous engagement with the United States of America’s National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) and other strategic partners, the YSN-ASM RCR programme has conducted numerous workshops; reaching out to more than a thousand local and international participants. The programme has also received international recognition (Alisic and Hilgenkemp; 2018).

Thus, this project is aimed at fostering integrity across the ASEAN research ecosystem through the expansion of responsible conduct of research awareness and training; leveraging on the expertise of the YSN-ASM, platform of the ASEAN Young Scientists Network and reach of the Global Young Academy.
